Application Process

Stay in School

Our application process follows three steps

Online Application

Subject Knowledge Test

Assessment Centre

*Before you begin, please check our entry requirements to ensure that you are eligible to join our Leadership Journey. Ineligible applications will be automatically rejected.

Step 1 - Online Application

To complete your online application you will need;

  • Qatar ID (QID) with valid residency
  • Bachelor's degree certificate*
  • Bachelor's degree transcript
  • An up-to-date CV - we strongly encourage you to limit this to one page only

*If you are an international student your bachelor's degree certificate and transcript must be attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

If you are applying to teach English, please complete the online application in English.

Once we receive your online application it will be reviewed by our selection team. You will receive a response within 2 to 4 weeks to confirm if your application has been accepted or rejected.

Step 2 – Subject Knowledge Test (SKT)

Once you have received confirmation that your application has been successful you will receive an invitation to book a slot to take the SKT. This test is a compulsory requirement with a pass/fail outcome which ensures our alignment with the high caliber of subject specialism in the Ministry of Education and Higher Education’s (MEHE) schools.

The SKT is based on the MEHE curriculum for your subject area. The test is multiple choice, taken on an iPad or computer under exam conditions and comprises questions that test your subject knowledge in accordance with the MEHE curriculum standards from Grades 3 - 9. Candidates applying to teach Arabic or English will also be given an oral assessment to gauge their competency in the target language, directly after they complete the SKT.

Once you have selected a slot to sit your SKT you will receive all the information, revision and supporting materials needed to study for your test, 14 days beforehand.

Non-Qatari residents of Qatar will be given one attempt to pass the SKT. For Qatari Nationals who fail the SKT within a margin of 20%, they will be offered a second and final attempt to sit the SKT.

You will receive confirmation of your SKT result within 14 days of taking your test.

At this stage due to the high number of applications we receive we are currently unable to provide personalized feedback on your SKT result.

Step 3 - Assessment Centre

The final stage of the selection process before we extend you an offer, is the Assessment Centre (AC). Following confirmation that you have passed the SKT, you will be invited to attend an AC at our head office. During this final stage you will engage in:

  • A sample teaching lesson
  • A written reflection
  • A group activity
  • An interview

You will receive further information regarding the AC via email, once you book your slot. In addition, all candidates are required to attend an online Support Session during which you will be given guidance on how to succeed, be taken through the format of the activities and answer any questions you may have.

At this stage due to the high number of applications we receive we are currently unable to provide personalized feedback to all candidates on their Assessment Centre result. If you would like feedback, please submit a formal email request to us as recruitment@teachforqatar.org and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Final Notification

Within 2 weeks of your Assessment Centre, you will receive email confirmation of the outcome. If you are successful, we will extend you an offer which you will need to sign within 3 days. Once you have accepted, you will be invited to complete a number of matriculation activities to welcome you into our program in the time leading up to the start of your Summer Institute. You will also be required to provide relevant documents needed to arrange your placement in a school, details of which will be outlined to you once you have signed the contract.

Once you have successfully passed the three steps above we will extend an offer for you to begin your journey with us as a Teach For Qatar Fellow, the first step of which is Summer Institute.

Please note that candidates are required to successfully graduate from our initial teaching and leadership training program -our Summer Institute. Failure to successfully graduate from this intensive 7-week program which includes real classroom teaching, in-depth sessions and subject specific assessment, means that you will not be ready yet to begin teaching in September 2025 and therefore will be removed from the program. We welcome candidates to apply again in the next recruitment cycles.

Important dates

To join this year you will need to submit your application before Thursday, March 13th, 2025. If you successfully completed the application process mentioned above , you will begin your compulsory 7-week Summer Institute training in June 2025.

It is important to note that the Leadership Journey is a full time 2-year commitment, after which we encourage and support you to continue in education as part of our Alumni community.

Teach For Qatar is a highly competitive program. Whilst we are keen to accommodate as many candidates as possible, when we reach our maximum capacity in a subject area we may need to close applications for specific subjects early and offer a deferment route. For this reason, we strongly encourage all interested candidates to apply as early as possible.
